Ruth 1
Lesson Aim
To understand that God’s people have good and bad experiences in life.
Hook 1: Rotating faces
Use a search engine to find ‘rotating faces’. It is possible to download enough rotating faces for each of the main characters in today’s story.
If you cannot find enough different ones, use the same one for the two brothers but colour them differently and the same can happen to the two daughters-in-law.
Put names beneath each face and as you tell the story rotate the faces to show happy or sad emotions e.g. sad faces for the famine or the death of Elimelech, happy faces when Mahlon and Chilion get married.
Hook 2: Questions
Have you ever moved countries? Why did your family decide to move countries? The people in today’s story had to move to another land for a very sad reason. There was a famine in their land. That meant that there was no food!
Application
In today’s story the people had good and bad experiences in life, but God was watching over them. We shall find out in the next part of this story just how God was working things out in a surprising way.
